About

This blog will serve as place for teachers and students to reflect on how Minecraft is being incorporated into classrooms.  As part of our Teacher Learning and Leadership Project (TLLP) we are working to engage students by using Minecraft to make cross curricular connections.

Through workshops, teacher connections, and student focus groups we hope to develop and support new meaningful ways to use Minecraft across a variety of subject areas.

Wow, how the year is rolling – we have already offered two Workshops and the response has been amazing.  The interest is there and we have connected with over 50 teachers across Ontario.  In March, and April we will be conducting two more focus group workshops to collaborate and share ideas.

Stay tuned for ideas that will showcase; School Servers, Minecraftedu, and colloboartive learning opportunities.  And of course our end goal  – THE MINECRAFT CONFERENCE – SHARING THE STUDENT VOICE

Authors of this page will consist of teachers, students and consultants.

I have been teaching for 10 years and have always been interesting in gaming.  However, I was never a PC gamer and was a big fan of Nintendo.  I loved getting a new game and reading up on the instructions and game guides to find new tips to master the game (side note: I didn’t like to read).  I had heard of Minecraft but it didn’t really interest me – that’s until I heard how my students discussed this game and were willing to share ideas.  My path with Minecraft has been an interesting one, and one with no instructional manual.  Or so I thought…  It is my hope with this site we can share expertise and ideas to help other teachers and students bring Minecraft into their class.  And in the end (of this project) we will have created an instructional guide though our reflections.
